13th Havana Biennial

13th Havana Biennial with Raquel Vallejo April 19-23, 2019

The 13th Havana Biennial is recognized as one of Latin America’s most important contemporary art fairs, attracting global artists, collectors, curators and art lovers. Described by the New York Times as filling “Havana’s museums, cultural spaces, galleries, theaters and streets with innovative sculpture, painting, urban and performance art”, the Havana Biennial is an extraordinary event in one of the world’s most dynamic cities.

During this curated 4-day trip you will visit Havana’s National Museum of Art and other cultural institutions, new alternative art spaces, meet artists in their home/studios, walk around the  many  exciting Biennial sites, stroll Old Havana, and experience the famous Fábrica de Arte Cubano (FAC).  You will also enjoy Havana’s nouvelle cuisine, experience its vibrant streets, take in its spectacular architecture and get carried away the rhythms of Havana.

Join me at the 13th Havana Biennial, one of Latin America’s most important art fairs. This year also marks Havana’s 500th Anniversary and the Biennial will expand into cities such as Matanzas, Cienfuegos, Sancti Spiritus and Camaguey.
Postponed due to Hurricane Irma in 2017, the 13th edition is titled La Construcción de lo Posible (The Construction of the Possible).  The Wilfredo Lam Center, who organizes and curates the event believes “this Cuban art festival will attempt to turn Havana into an interactive cultural corridor between the creators and the public. Other participants include the National Museum of Art, Factoría Habana, Pabellón Cuba and Galería Villa Manuela and Fabrica de Arte.
The global artists selected by the curators will stage works that address global issues of particular importance to their nationality. The Havana Biennial is exceptional in its artistic outreach; from performance- based art to diverse art forms integrating ambience, light, aroma, time and tempo.
This will be a once-in-a-lifetime experience, so join me at the Biennial!
